Connect with the Sacred Earth & learn from our First Race

The Lilla Aboriginal Community – 10 kilometres from Kings Canyon

For two days and one night make the Lilla Community your home. Be welcomed by traditional owners with a smoking ceremony. Learn about the healing properties of desert flora as you walk with an indigenous guide to the birthing cave and the water hole. Enjoy simple vegetarian fare – all meals are provided . Sit with locals around an open fire under a star studded sky and experience the spiritual energy and peace of an ancient desert.

Kings Canyon

Be embraced by the power of King Canyon. Walk the rim and/or the lower canyon base where nature reaches out to you in unexpected and delightful ways. Reflect in your own space and connect with the earth in new ways

Day 1 - Monday 14 March

  • Kings Creek Station

    You will be picked up, after an early breakfast, from your accommodation at Ayers Rock Resort. On the way to the Lilla Aboriginal Community we stop at Kings Creek Station to use the toilets and coffee shop.

  • Lilla Community

    Then we continue to the Lilla Community for a day of cultural experience activities including:

    • Welcome to country ceremony in the traditional Luritja way
    • Guided walks around Lilla and its places of cultural significance
    • Teachings – learn the dreamtime stories of the area and see their records in cave paintings and sand drawings
    • Have lunch with locals from the Aboriginal Community
    • Watch, learn and practice traditional dot painting art or bush jewellery making
    • Visit a working Aboriginal school
    • Learn how to throw traditional hunting weapons such as boomerang and woomera
  • Camping

    Spend the night camping at the Lilla and enjoy the company of locals who will join us for dinner

Day 2 - Tuesday 15 March

  • Kings Canyon

    We’re up early for breakfast and then to Kings Canyon. Choose your level of participation! Would you prefer the gentle creek walk? Here you’ll encounter birds, desert flowers and sacred pool. Or will you embrace the challenge of the rim walk? Experience, among other wonders, the beauty of the Garden of Eden – a lush rain forest .

  • Yulara

    After lunch, by mid-afternoon, we drive back to Yulara to arrive at the Outback Pioneer Lodge by approximately 7:30 pm.

  • Dinner

    Enjoy personal choice dining at your own expense. We stay the night in shared accommodation.

Day 3 - Wednesday 16 March

  • Depart Uluru

    Breakfast is included this morning before departing Uluru.

Sleeping and eating arrangements
at the Lilla Community

Comfy tents – bring a pillow if you wish

  • Sleeping – There are 2 person tents set up but it may still be warm enough to sleep under the stars if you’d like.
  • Swags are provided
  • Sleeping bags – They have sleeping bags that are dry cleaned after each use or, if you prefer, you can bring your own sleeping bag, inflatable bed or swag.
  • Simple yummy food Food – Meals are supplied and they cater for vegetarian. The food is simple – there are no a la carte chefs on site!
  • Kitchen facilities – There are cooking facilities and fridges. Snacks are provided but if you want to throw some special treats in your bag you can store them in the fridges.
